The most beautiful natural wonder on the coast is the
Mar Menor a shallow lagoon which is the largest of its kind in Spain. The water in the lagoon maintains a constant temperature (5ºC above the average Mediterranean temperature) perfect for participating in the many water sports on offer and there are plenty of cafes, bars, and restaurants along the beachfront.
Around the Mar Menor itself you can find a variety of small, bustling, traditional and lively towns in which to shop, eat and mix with the locals who are warm, friendly and inviting.
The historical city of Murcia is about 30 minutes drive away. Visit some of the stunning historical places of interest and soak up the art and culture of the city. The ancient seaport of Cartegena, (30 minute drive) is also well worth a visit. Steeped in history you can spend your time savouring the historical sites and naval museum, shopping (great shopping!) or simply strolling around the marina and stopping here and there for a leisurely beverage.
